Purpose
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain cost effective strategies for Technical Material Planning to meet production requirements of Kenya Airways and third-party operators while meeting KCAA requirements and other relevant Civil Aviation Regulators.
Responsibilities
Strategic Development
- Lead and manage creation of vision, strategies, policies, processes, and procedures for provisioning aircraft materials and inventory management.
General and Task Management
- Lead and manage development of strategic, tactical, and operational material management plans for effective delivery of Material Management process for aircraft spares, rotables and services.
- Manage and guide components provisioning operations including initial and continuous material provisioning.
- Lead and manage continuous review of materials consumption and stock availability to meet KQ and its third-party customer’s expectations.
- Lead and manage implementation of inventory management strategy processes & controls to ensure optimum stock levels.

Process Development & Improvement
- Continuously optimize aircraft MRP to support the material cost management and supplier performance processes in liaison with IS department.
- Review and analyse spend costs and patterns and advise the business on best practices and corrective actions.
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers and supplier that results in timely spares delivery for KQ and third-party customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to supplier meetings and negotiations to ensure company interests are protected.
- Perform supplier performance and resolve supplier concerns in conjunction with other stakeholders.
- Develop and implement service level agreements (SLAs) are adhered to by the relevant stakeholders.
- Lead in timely and satisfactory resolution of orders, quotes & invoices queries raised by both internal and external customers.
- Ensure compliance with MCM, Civil Aviation regulations and Laws of Kenya in acquisition of aircraft parts and tools.
Budget & Reporting
- Develop, implement, and control the annual budget for material planning.
- Lead and manage quarterly review of budgetary performance adjusting to meet requirements.
- Lead in preparation of Management reports to support decisions on a regular.

Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering/Supply Chain Management or related field.
- Aircraft maintenance & parts repair management experience.
- Commercial experience.
- Proficiency in computerised inventory control system.
- Knowledge of aircraft parts airworthiness certifications (EASA, FAA) KCAA and customs regulations relevant to aircraft parts desirable.
- Good understanding of IATA resolutions and industry rules.
- Setting and managing contracts with clear targets.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a planning function with at least 3 years in a management role.
- 5 Years’ experience in aircraft maintenance environment preferred.
