Key Responsibilities:
Operation and Process Control
- Operate and monitor Wet Section equipment to achieve production targets and maintain process stability.
- Monitor process conditions to ensure effective pickling performance and product quality.
- Maintain stable operation of acid handling, circulation and rinsing systems.
- Maintain accurate process, production and quality records.
- Support planned and breakdown maintenance activities and perform Autonomous Maintenance tasks.
- Monitor process performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and resource efficiency
Quality Management
- Ensure all pickled products meet customer specifications and approved process requirements.
- Identify and escalate quality, process and equipment abnormalities.
- Maintain accurate product traceability and process records.
- Participate in RCA, CAPA and continuous improvement activities
Safety, Healthy, Environment & Housekeeping
- Comply with all HSEQ requirements, SOPs, Permit-to-Work and LOTOTO requirements.
- Handle acids and chemicals safely in accordance with approved procedures and SDS requirements.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, spills, leaks and environmental risks.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and emergency response equipment.
- Maintain housekeeping standards through implementation of 6S
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in TPM, Kaizen and Operational Excellence initiatives.
- Support initiatives aimed at reducing waste, chemical consumption and quality losses.
- Contribute ideas that improve safety, environmental performance and operational efficiency
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- KCSE Certificate.
- Government Grade Test II in General Fitting, Mechanical Engineering Craft Certificate or equivalent technical qualification
Added Advantage
- Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Industrial Plant Operations.
- Knowledge of Pickling Line Operations.
- Knowledge of Acid Handling and Chemical Process Operations.
- Training in 6S, TPM and Autonomous Maintenance
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years' machine operating experience in manufacturing. (recommended correction)
- At least 1 year experience in Pickling Line operations, chemical processing operations or steel processing operations.
- Experience in a steel processing, chemical processing or heavy industrial environment will be an added advantage
