Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement the annual procurement plan in line with the institution's budget and strategic objectives.
  • Advise management on procurement policies, best practices, and risk management as per PPAD A 2015, Regulation (2020) and PPRA.
  • Ensuring correct specifications from users, and proper requisition authorization.
  • Preparation of tender documents for procurement of goods, works and services.
  • Maintain an updated record of all stores, machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure use of an updated list of pre-qualified suppliers or contractors to supply and provide various services to the institute.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure prompt and accurate deliveries.
  • Supervise and liaise with staff within the department.
  • Ensure that all documents relating to procurement are handed over to the finance section for timely payment of suppliers.
  • Coordinate stock taking, stock control and verification of materials.
  • Receive feedback from institute's services end users and respond accordingly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management from a recognized University.
  • Must be a member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) and in good standing.
  • Must be a holder of a valid practising license.
  • Must have at least 7 years' experience as a procurement officer in a relevant institution.
  • Must be a Kenyan citizen aged 35 years and above.
