Professor - Religious Studies

Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to: Provide academic and research leadership within the Department, School, and University; Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students; Develop, review, and evaluate academic programmes; Supervise Master’s and PhD research projects and theses; Lead curriculum development, quality assurance, and accreditation initiatives; Conduct and publish high-quality research in reputable peer-reviewed journals; Mentor faculty members and postgraduate students; Prepare, administer, moderate, and mark examinations; Participate in strategic planning and policy formulation; Represent the University in academic, professional, church, and community engagements; Mobilize resources and support research, consultancy, and grant-funded initiatives; Participate in academic administration and institutional governance; Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department. Qualifications and Experience Applicants must possess: An earned PhD in the relevant field from a recognized university: PhD in Old Testament Studies; PhD in Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or related field; PhD in Religious Studies or related discipline. A Master’s degree with a minimum average score of B+ or equivalent in the relevant field from an accredited institution; A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or a minimum GPA of 3.0 from a recognized university; KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent qualification; Minimum of twelve (12) years of university teaching, research, and academic leadership experience, including at least three (3) years at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent; Distinguished record of scholarly publications and recognized contributions in the relevant field; Successful supervision of Master’s and PhD students to completion; Evidence of successful acquisition, management, and implementation of research, consultancy, or development grants from recognized funding agencies; Meets the University requirements for appointment and promotion to the rank of Professor; Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body where applicable; Ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church; Active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing; Demonstrated commitment to Adventist philosophy of education, mission, and values; Ability to integrate faith and learning in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and values of Seventh-day Adventist higher education; Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, E-Learning platforms, Internet applications, and relevant statistical software. go to method of application »
